Character Day - Casteri Raza
Happy Character Day!! Hello and good morning fellow rebels, welcome to another character day. I hope everyone is having a lovely fall season! I am just in heaven because fall is my favorite seasons – Halloween, spooky stuff, candy, and no bugs! What more can a gal ask for!
*I apologize if this seems rushed. I’m literally doing this while at the office!*
Any who, in the spirit of Halloween (not really related lol), I wanted to do another character day featuring one character that I have forgotten; Casteri Raza. I wouldn’t say that Casteri is one of my absolute favorites, but I do like him a lot. Though he might seem like a brick wall, there is a lot going on underneath the exterior.
**Fun Fact**
Currently, Casteri is 19 years old, making him one of the older on board. But at one point, all of the characters were supposed to be significantly younger. Casteri, in the preliminary write-out of the novel, was only 14 years old!

Name: Casteri Raza
Age: 19
Species: Human
Casteri is a mature, stoic, and no-nonsense individual. He comes off way too mature for his age, making people wonder why and how he can remain friends with Tyrinie. However, his patient attitude might be what gives him the ability to handle Tyrinie in the first place.
When Scarlet first meets Casteri, he describes him as intimidating – large and commanding with a voice that belongs in the military. This is mostly due to him being raised in the strict North. Though despite this initial scary judgement, it is seen that Casteri carries himself in a completely different fashion. According to Scarlet, even though Casteri has an aura that commands respect, his personally is calming and caring, making him come off more as a protective older brother. Scarlet also mentions that Casteri seems like someone who always has a situation under control, no matter how impossible or difficult it may seem.
Not much is known about Casteri’s past. Even when Scarlet attempted to speak with him about it, he remained vague, saying that his only regret was being unable to say goodbye to his family. All that is known is the fact that Casteri is from Iranian decent and that he, and his family, lived in Sector 2 in the Northern Region. Casteri, like his parents, works as an engineer for the Dukas family. Since he and Tyrinie were so close in age, he had the privilege of being Tyrinie’s babysitter, which eventually turned into a close friendship (one that not even Tyrinie’s parents can understand.)
Tyrinie and Casteri have known each other for 13 years (making Tyrinie 4 and Casteri 6 when they met). They were more-or-less forced to play together due to their age, but soon they became quite the pair. Casteri mentioned that he was never good at interacting with other people – he often said that they were too irrational and complicated, unlike humanoids. So Tyrinie was the first “human” that Casteri truly built a relationship with. Casteri saw beyond Tyrinie’s flaws and his strange genetic makeup, turning himself into some what of a safety blanket for Tyrinie. Even though Tyrinie seems to bully Casteri, it isn’t done maliciously. In truth, they mean a lot to one another. It’s quite sweet.
**Fun Fact**
When Tyrinie made the rash decision to follow Scarlet on his journey, Casteri followed without second thought, saying that both of their parents would feel more comfortable if they vanished together. With that being said, the only reason why Casteri is on the ship is because he was trying to protect Tyrinie (and keep him out of trouble). Now eventually, Casteri does begin to believe in Scarlet’s cause, and wants to be there to assist in freeing Neutopia. But with Casteri calculating mindset and mature personality, there’s a good chance that he would have turned down Scarlet’s offer if Tyrinie wasn’t in the picture.
Talk about “the things you do for friendship!”
