There are moments where Murtagh is relieved that Cas is a decently natured as he is because he is very good at seeing the shortest path between what he wants and what he has and doesn't consider the consiquences.

The more i think about it, the more i really like Casimir getting really excited when he starts going a little gray.

I really do like writing Casimir as, outside of some half elf angst, being Just Some Guy. The world doesn't bend to his whims. He's perpetually broke, and it's largely his own fault. He's not part of any prophecy or special bloodline. Eventually, he learns to use a little magic, but hes never more than a poor mage. He's an alright enough fighter to feel comfortable traveling alone, but that's more due to being stronger and faster than he looks than any skill. He just decides to get involved in the magic dragon cult bullshit and puts in the work to get better and be useful.

Apart from being quickly murdered, I love it so much that Casimir betrayed all os his long-time friends for the reward of becoming the baron of 3 meters of land and a tiny one-room broken down castle and 2 subjects that couldn't pay any taxes if their lives depended on it. He swapped loyal companions for allies that immediately betrayed him. With absolutely no way back.
