Sam laughed. “I thought he was going to use us as target practice after that.” He eyed Casey sheepishly. “Remember the time Dad and Dean were coming home and I wanted to watch them drive up? Both of us climbed on Bobby’s roof and sat up there until it got dark…and he came out and threatened us with a shot-gun if we didn’t get down?” Sam smiled warmly at the thought, then stood. “I think I’m going to relive that old memory. Just for the heck.” He stood, dusting off the seat of his pants. “You wanna join me?”

Angels. Demons. Vessels. Martyrs....
These were about the only topics cramming Sam's head lately. The angels wanted Dean to accept Michael and become his willing body-bag. Lucifer kept toying with the idea of Sam as his personal skin-valet. And all both boys wanted to do was to save the world on their terms...still human.
Tonight, on Bobby's front porch, the younger Winchester watched the stars. It'd been a while since he and his brother had taken a breather, and to clear their heads and see if Bobby had any ideas, they'd decided to drive the Impala up to the old scrap-yard. Dean stood inside. Sam could hear his urgent tones as he and the old man they'd learned to treat as father bickered about the future. For once, Sam didn't want to get in on it. The world was ending soon, and tonight, well...the stars were out.
It was then he heard soft footsteps approaching.
