Gators Fall To Huskies In Final Four

Gators Advance Past Albany

“I’m a bit baffled with our team right now.”

With a quote like that coming from Gators head coach Billy Donovan, you would assume the worst just happened. Instead, Florida defeated the Albany Great Danes 67-55 Thursday afternoon to advance to the round of 32.

It couldn’t have been the offense that troubled him, they shot 51 percent from the field and had five Gators scored in double digits.

Florida Gators - 66 Fresno State Bulldogs - 49

After playing a pretty bad first half of Basketball in which Florida only led 24-19 at the break, the 16th ranked Gators broke away from the Bulldogs to win the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Florida for the 4th straight year.

Senior Forward Casey Prather unsurprisingly led the Gators in scoring with 16 points with a very efficient 8-11 shooting from the floor, while Seniors Will Yeguete and Patric Young led the Gators in rebounding with 10 and 9 rebounds respectively (both season highs).

The Gators played terrific defense on the night, holding the Bulldogs high powered offense to only 49 points (their lowest output on the season), and had their best night in terms of perimeter defense holding a very good 3-point shooting team to only 4 of 17 from long range. They also had a staggering rebounding advantage, grabbing 47 boards to Fresno State's 24.
