Ugh.ππ² For those of you not in the Portland area (or West Coast in general), a major fire in the Columbia Gorge started on Saturday, allegedly started by teenage boys with fireworks on the Eagle Creek Trail. Now, it's a mostly uncontained wildfire that has grown to about 10,000 acres, and in a mind-blowing feat, managed to jump the mightiest river in the West (from Oregon to Washington.) The Gorge is basically closed. I-84 is shut down between Troutdale and Hood River. Thousands of people have had to evacuate. Hundreds--hundreds!--of hikers had to be rescued. People are losing their homes. All because of humans, probably. This is on top of 25 other fires in Oregon, plus others on the West Coast from BC to California. Smoke has covered most of the state. Ash is falling in town. When will this fire end? No one knows. Hopefully the forecasted rain will show up this week. But some of my favorite parts of the Northwest can burn down soon. And I'm not happy. π My heart goes out to those folks in the Gorge. #Repost @gorgefriends (@get_repost) γ»γ»γ» The #eaglecreekfire captured last night by @tristancf_. #eaglecreekfire2017 #cascadelocks #bridgeofthegods #columbiagorge #staysafe
