It wasn’t easy to let go, especially not when everything within him wanted nothing more than to hold on as fiercely and as tightly as he could. She was hurting, in pain -- he had seen that look on her face in other people, even in himself -- and he wanted to be able to ease it, to help lessen the sharp sting of her loss but he knew that it wasn’t possible. Not this time. Trip’s smile was small, understanding but holding a touch of disappointment as she placed her hand on his chest.
“ You know I’m always in your corner, right?” Trip said, raising his own hand to clasp hers, “No matter what, you call and I’m there.”
