Carol is willing to admit that she perfected lying to herself long ago. Long before she became Star Sapphire, long before Hal swaggered back into her life she'd already become an expert at self-delusion. Life hadn't gone the way she expected. A too long fucked up mess of a relationship with Hal, violet light that has damaged her mind over and over again with only prolonged exposure making her immune and a stupid hope that some days things will be normal. She should know better.

Carol watches Hal argue with Sinestro, the two men's bodies angling toward each other, blocking out everyone else. When she'd figured out how to use the ring to see individual's love for others she'd wanted to scream. Yes, Hal loves her and loves her dearly. But he loves Sinestro more. The violet of that love is twisted, a warped, broken thing constantly reforged and remade, never growing weaker, never growing stronger, but still abiding. Their love had cracks in it, chinks that if enough pressure is given may shatter.

She knows Hal has a ring hidden in his apartment, ready for proposing. She knows that she'll probably say yes if he ever asks. That'll she'll have the big wedding she's dreamed of for years, but she won't be getting Hal, not really. He'll marry her because he thinks he loves her, that he loves her enough for his issues to eventually fade away, that his love for Sinestro will fade away.

Used to be a fan a while back, I thought they were cute enough (I really liked their interactions in Rebirth and Secret Origin and also the Flashpoint: Green Lantern trade) but as time went on I started to get sick of them. I wasn’t exactly happy when Carol randomly got a divorce and as dry and boring as Cowgirl was (along with her relationship with Hal), at least it was Hal moving on. Of course Cowgirl then randomly vanished and suddenly it was the, as Grus put it, BUT CAROL thing and it began to annoy me.

It doesn’t help that around time this happened people started derping over the ship because of GLTAS and I’m going to be honest, the people squealing over it (even though it was a small group) really did actually put me off to it and pushed me to begin to outright hate the ship. I actually blacklisted the ship and still have it blacklisted lol.

Yeah every time someone was like ‘QUEEN CAROL!!!!’ it also annoyed me and I began to realize that outside of Hal/Carol, Carol is a boring as shit character with no real personality and is as dry and flat as Cowgirl.

If she got killed off I really wouldn’t care.
