With a six-pack in hand and the blonde bundled up for the chilly evening she wandered out, comforted by the crunch of her boots on the cooling earth. Finding the man she was looking for she didn’t try to disguise her footsteps and tried to keep her stride even. Pulling up a lawn chair she sat next to the man, placing the beers between them, opening two, and sat silently for a moment as she stared at the fire he had started. Half a beer later she finally spoke in a tiny voice, “I’m sorry. I’m a bitch, down to the core. Have been for as long as I can remember,” okay, a minor lie on her part. “I got frustrated and snapped at ya. It ain’t easy to know that you’re fond of me, and you’ll sleep with me, but can’t stand my peers. Being the exception ain’t flattering to me. It’s horrifying and it tears me to pieces. It’s infuriating to know that you wanna slaughter all spies, but not me. I am a spy, Knox. Whether you like it or not, that is my job. Point blank. It’s enraging to see how you interact with my peers and what you want to do with them, even off the field, but you have no desire to harm me. It doesn’t make me feel special. ‘I hate all spies. But not this one. This one isn’t really a spy. But she is. But she isn’t.‘ It’s not flattering. So… yeah. I’m sorry I’m a complete and total bitch. I’ve had years at it, and I’m damned good at it. I’m sorry you got the brunt of me being a callous hag.“ She felt that she was justified in the end, but she would at least apologize for her temper.

With his boot heels resting on a pile of large rocks he had placed around his campfire to get him as close to the heat as possible without burning the soles of his shoes, Knowlen sat lounged back in his old lawn chair wrapped in the thick fleece of the inside of his jacket where it was warm. His winter gloves for battle on his hands to where only the first two fingers were exposed from the second knuckle up, keeping is hands warm enough with the half empty bottle of beer he sipped on resting against this thigh in silence. His amber eyes nice a rich gold were alive with the fire they stared into as the sulking sniper sat in a pool of his own thoughts, dwelling on the last few conversations he had had with a particular blonde that were eating him up inside; feeling like his heart was only hanging in there by threads. As if the gods of the night knew what was on his mind a familiar set of footsteps crunched against the icy gravel that lead down the pathways from the various campers around the base, not even needing to look her way to know it was her as he caught sight of her moving out of the corner of his eye.
It was like torture to not look directly at her and just take her in like he so badly wanted to, feeling like his body and soul were being pulled into to different directions with how his heart felt and what his mind knew; hating the fact that his fingers itched just to reach out and touch her, even if it was just her hand. It was a surprise however, for him to hear the first two words out of her mouth to be an apology, being enough to finally get him to slowly turn his gaze to her for a moment before he realized she was going to continue on. As she did though his amber hues turned back to the fire in front of them as he took in everything she said, feeling his jaw clench with a grind of his teeth as he kept his mouth shut until she was finished. Her words were another knife to cut at the wounds that had been left behind before by more than just her; this was a fight he had before with his ex when they had argued over his hatred for her best friend and how it was putting a wedge between them. The memory made his heavy brows furrow deeply with a sullen guilty look that he tried to swallow down with the swig of his beer, hating to hear that the way he was was a reason she was keeping him at arms length; making the emotions he felt from before rise up in a bail in his throat.
“Yer not a callous hag.” He murmured in a low graveled voice that was heavy like the chilly night air as it billowed out from him in a cloud of steam, keeping his eyes on the fire for now because he couldn’t bring himself to look at her just yet. This was his fault. He had been told before how his fathers views bred into him were wrong and that he was too busy being blind in that faith to listen to anything else, causing a rift to form between himself, Dianna and Sam that he was afraid of getting so large he couldn’t fix. Now there was one between him and Cerise, and it was with his heart in his hands he was realizing that something had to change. “….yer right…..” He said softly as he rolled the bottle of beer idly between his hands as his gaze fell to that, feeling himself fumbling for words as he tried to take a step in what could be the right direction with the hopes to mend what he had broken. He didn’t want to lose her. Fuck, he would love it if he could find a way to have her see him the way he saw her, but right now he would start with just trying to get her to see him in any good way at all. “…I’m sorry….I’m tha dick, not ya.”
