Well know for his syndicated radio and TV shows, Steve Harvey will once again be collaborating with ESSENCE magazine to bring this unique workshop focusing on  career and educational opportunities for students ages 13-19.

“Giving back is important to me, and especially to our youth – our future leaders, entrepreneurs, and aspiring artists. We’ve seen more than 900 committed students come through the program, and I’m excited to find the next 100. The tenth anniversary will be special, and I encourage all high school students to take a minute of their time to apply for this incredible opportunity.” ~Steve Harvey on the Disney Dreamers Academy. 

This annual event brings students from around the nation to Walt Disney World and encourages them to see all the different career choices that they have. Workshops range from zoology, culinary, animation and medicine while the students also learns valuable communication skills, leadership values and network strategies. The “classrooms” are held on stage and backstage at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Resorts with the knowledgable Disney experts. Not to mention the celebrity speakers and special guests that share how they achieved success through DREAMING BIG!

So, how can you apply to be a part of this annual event? Students must complete essay questions, explaining their personal stories as well as their dreams for the future. Having a strong character, positive attitude and determination will be what sets the DREAMERS apart! If you are selected, then you and a parent/guardian will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World for the event in March 2017.

It's probably habitual that around Easter/April time starts to fly and life just seems to get ridiculously busy. This semester is that times 10 for me. I think I do really get at balancing it, it just doesn't get that much easier towards the end. By the end of the semester, everyone is ready for the semester to be done with and I'm no different. It seems like things just keep adding on. I'm pretty sure that after this week, it'll die down a little bit. Breaking things up and going at them piece by piece is a great way to watch out for stress levels. It's what I do anyway. Usually, the process works but that doesn't stop things from being overwhelming at times.

For my initiate class, we've been raising money for the social event we are putting on on Thursday. We did a pop can drive that was really successful but it wasn't enough. Last week we did a "Pie an Initiate Auction." Since it was our idea, and only those initiates who volunteered, it wasn't breaking any rules or anything. Our Regional Consultant knows too though. It was quite funny and super successful. It probably would have been better if the weather was a little warmer but with Michigan nothing is predictable and you kind of just work through it. We have enough money that we have everything for our even save for food and snacks. We're making/individually buying them. We also had our National Exam yesterday. I was freaking out over it but I think I may have gotten 100% on it but I won't find out until later this week. I'm 100% sure I passed though so that's the good thing. It means that officially, I'll be inducted on Saturday which is amazing and overwhelming. My "feels" will be in another separate post all about PSP.
