Rin Matsuoka-senpai,

My Christmas break has been alright so far, despite the fact that I would much rather be at Samezuka than here.  On my first day back my mother asked me how everything was going.  She actually seemed interested in what I’ve been doing, and that made me pretty happy!  My father listened for a while, but it seems I talked about the swim team a bit too much for his liking… he’d really like for me to quit in order to pursue my academics a bit more.  It’s a topic he brings up a lot, but I’m hoping that he’ll just drop it for the rest of my stay here.  Needless to say, I have no intentions of quitting the swim team now!  I love it too much to give up now!  I hope you’re having a really good time with your family.

Nitori puffed his cheeks out and shoved his free hand into his pocket, trying to keep warm as he listened to the ring of the phone.  C’mon, Senpai, he thought to himself as it rang twice.  Three times.  Four times…

After 8 solid rings, the phone kicked to voicemail.  Nitori let out a disappointed breath, wrinkling his nose.  ”Hey, senpai!  My phone’s dead so I thought I’d try to call you from this payphone… I’ve spent all my change on this one call but… oh well! I’ve got to go now, I just hope I can find a way back to Samezuka…”  he sighed.  He probably should’ve called someone else… no changing that now.  ”See you whenever I get back!”

∞: A random headcanon about my muse and yours.

Nitori has always had a hard time sleeping through the night, and as such wakes up periodically.  He has made a habit of peeking down at the bottom bunk when he does wake up, to make sure that Rin is sleeping well.  If he feels like Rin’s breathing is too erratic, or if he feels like he isn’t sleeping soundly enough, Nitori will slip down for a few minutes and pet Rin’s hair, or rub his back, or whisper reassurances until Rin seems to be sleeping well again.  He’s fallen asleep in Rin’s bed a few times while trying to soothe the other, which has led to some pretty hilarious conversations in the morning.

✘: Scars aren’t very pretty- my muse has to show you theirs.

"Most of my scars are pretty light—I’ve always been good at taking care of them so I wouldn’t have a lot of ugly ones.  There’s one on my right shoulder blade from when I was a kid that you can still see pretty well, though.  I uh… I fell down and fell against one of my blocks, and it cut me pretty bad.  I have a pretty bad one on my left hip, too, but it’s usually covered by my clothes.  Other than that, I guess all my cuts healed without leaving much of a trace."

☾: It’s in the middle of the night and my muse had a nightmare about yours- what does my muse do?

The nightmare was bad, one of the worst he’d ever had, and when his eyes opened he could hardly bring himself to move.  His heart was racing.  His breathing was shallow.  His cheeks were wet.  A panic suddenly came over him, and he sat up straight in the bed.  Was it a nightmare?  Was it reality?  Frantically, the younger boy leaned over the bunk to find that it must have been the former rather than the latter—Rin was still sleeping, back turned to Nitori’s vision.

Hoping Rin wouldn’t mind, Nitori slipped off of the top bunk and laid down behind Rin, careful not to get too close to him.  He didn’t want to disturb the other’s sleep, and he certainly didn’t want it to be taken the wrong way, he just… he needed to be close to Rin, if only for a moment.  Hand shaking, he reached out and gently touched his fingertips to his senpai’s shoulder.
