Vacation Recap Part 2: Playa del Carmen
Although we spent a lot of time at the resort, we also took the opportunity to spend some time in the town of Playa del Carmen. Â The "main street" of the town is heavily geared toward tourists, with many shop owners outside accosting you to buy their wares. Â
If T-shirts, sombreros, or ceramics aren't your style, they also offered weed, blow, ecstacy, and girls. Â There were some interesting stores:
The pharmacies also caught my eye. Â They seemed to specialize in Viagra (and other ED drugs) and antibiotics, with Retin-A and muscle relaxants thrown in for good measure:
There was also a plaza area for street performances:
On our last night in Playa del Carmen we had what I would consider as the best meal of the vacation at Carboncitos. Â

The waiters also skillfully balanced the drinks on their heads:
I ordered cochinita pibil, which was quite delicious. Â I will probably try to replicate it at home, so if anyone out there in blogland knows a good recipe please send it my way.
