THE HOME COMINGโจ
On Friday the 25th of January , our sweet little Vonu Vale was all packed up + ready to hit the open road . Leaving the big city life of Brisbane behind for the tropics of Cairns !!
We planned to cruise our way through the 19ish hour journey , really enjoying the journey + not pushing ourselves or our van to get anywhere fast . We left Brisbane with Tannum Sands as our first stop to the tropics . We only booked one park , and purposefully to see how our trip panned out and not holding us to any place in a certain time frame .
As we left the big city highways behind , we found ourselves on a long dirt road in the bush ... passing cattle, grids + one lane bridges . Google maps did not mention the dirt road , although we did know about a possible dirt road detour ... which will now forever be a sweet memory of mine , especially seeing how well all our hard work held up amongst the gumtrees and rock laid dirt road!!
We arrived at the Discovery Park in Tannum Sands , located just outside of Gladstone , around 5:30pm + our first ever set up was a fast paced , child occupying , team work situation . P set up all the necessary stabilisers , towing + power situation , whilst I took Tye for a walk to see the pool + back , then changed him and the boys for a swim ... really to keep him occupied before the whole suburb could hear him asking to go swim ๐ ๐ they ventured to the water whilst I set up inside + all the necessary post swim & shower things. I found them by the beach , which was just across the road from the caravan park + dropped them home to get showered whilst I went and got us dinner . Nothing fancy , just some KFC & by the time I came back all the boys were clean + ready to eat ๐๐พ we booked an en-suite site for our stay to really ease us into our caravan adventures & it was super easy doing so too. Not long past midnight our firstborn got sick + after stripping sheets + helping him get showered and cleaned up P decided we should just keep the momentum and pack up to leave + head straight for Townsville . We literally left in the dead of night ... & did fairly well for a dark flee , getting the babes in the car , packing away things from the shelves etc + all those hitching up things ... we may have forgot to put the stabilisers up but only drove not even a metre before realising . HA ! A win in my books for a very first pack down ... in the dead of night at that!
Before leaving on Friday , we were very mindful of all the rain which had been falling up north at home and itโs reach . So we thought if we made Townsville then we would at least have a night or two if the rain was bad , otherwise we would be a very cruisey four hours from home ! A couple stops for food and fuel + we arrived at our family in Townsville and ended up crashing after a huge day . We slept in + left just before lunch and was home by the afternoon . We managed to avoid any huge hits of rain and from then it has never really stopped .
Now our sweet little Vonu Vale is home , where it belongs. I love peeping through the glass of our front door and seeing it parked outside . & when the weather is nice and sunny again , we canโt wait to hit up our local beaches + their caravan parks and plan for our trips away exploring the tropics + wherever our little van will take us โ๐พ๐ด
