please remember you asked for angst <3 in our verse; how does Steve feel about the fact that Peggy moved on - had a family & more kids - while Margo was missing (& while he and Bucky were still alive and trapped). does it just make him sad, is there resentment, blame, understanding, etc?
[Donât worry Iâm quite aware :P ]
â...I couldnât feel angry or resentment for Peggy over that, never.â Even if he had been asked without truth serum forcing it out of him, he would have said that. Well, really, he probably would have tried to avoid the question the best he could without actually lying. But he had no choice but to say it now. âPeggy couldnât just wait for me forever, for any of us forever, and I wouldnât want her to, even though it turned out I wasnât as dead as anyone thought, even myself. She had to move on, and itâs for the best that she did...but...â
It was still a hard truth to face. â...I would be lying if I said I wasnât sad about not being able to be with her, and if I tried to deny that it hurt to know she belongs to someone else. Iâm legitimately glad she was able to have a family and a life with someone else...but I feel a strong pain in my chest every time it occurs to me that âsomeone elseâ wasnât me instead.â
