CAPS Chicago Outreach Coordinator Dianne Arp: "It's Puppy Mill Awareness Weekend, and boy did we educate people [yesterday]!! Phenomenal protest!! Nonstop honking and support from passersby and I lost count of the number of families educated about puppy mills because we were there. It was that busy. Seven or eight families were so disgusted they didn't even go inside the store after talking with us and looking at our information. At one point we had a captive audience of 2 or 3 families standing outside their front door as I kept talking fact after fact after fact. I never stop talking until I've lost their attention. The pet store employees stood there holding the door open trying to get them to come inside. Nope. They all left. Some came over, took information from us, thanked us - and left!!!!! Will try to post a video of that. Sent some families to The Buddy Foundation, just around the corner, to adopt. THIS is why we protest - to educate! CAPS excels at outreach and education. I can't thank these folks enough for coming out [yesterday] and speaking for those who cannot do it for themselves. It's because you guys were there that many families were spared the heartache of bonding with a sick puppy only to have it die. You guys are AWESOME! We'll be back next Saturday, weather permitting."
