i started new meds and WOOOF, the side effects are ROUGHHHH. BUT! No delusions, no hallucinations, none of my normal paranoia!
unfortunately... the side effects have been so bad its given me anxiety lol, we;re going to keep trying me until the weekend is over, then if its still needed we'll lower my dose.
I feel very... anxious ab taking the meds again bc of how scary the side effects are, but luckily my Fiancee (He/She/They/It/All) is a HUGE support despite them going through so much rn...
But i have HUGE hopes for this medication!
Wish me luck! <33
Disorganized thoughts got me hit the other day. I didn't deserve it even by the standards of people with rational, organized thoughts in my life, but nevertheless I would have thought of a way to calm this person down before they hit me if not for this. Here's hoping Caplyta helps.

A recently approved first-in-class antipsychotic appears to have fewer adverse cardiometabolic effects compared with placebo or standard care with risperidone, new research suggests.
Two things about this study which make it only slightly less than worthless:
1. Six weeks is not long enough to evaluate for metabolic effects of antipsychotics. Six months is more like it. While cardiological side effects often show up rather quickly in crazy meds, regardless of class, metabolic side effects usually take a lot longer.
2. The control AP. Risperdal (risperidone) is pretty bad when it comes to weight gain and other metabolic issues. Not as bad as Zyprexa (olanzapine), Seroquel (quetiapine), or Clozaril (clozapine), but still pretty bad. If they wanted to compare it to a med that didn’t cause weight gain, they should have used Geodon (ziprasidone). But, you know, then the sponsor’s med wouldn’t have looked so good.
