I've got new paper and compared it with my old.
From top to bottom:
- Fabriano, 25% cotton, fin, cold press
- Canson, no info, fin, cold press
- Chiisen, no info at all
The same watercolor paint on each piece, wet-on-dry. Feel the difference, as they say.
For me, it's really funny that Chiisen behaves more smoothly and predictably than Canson, even if Chiisen is like 5x cheaper and it's not even for watercolor! For instance, I painted this and this on Canson, and everything else on Chiisen. Very likely, I'll leave Canson only for plein air or in case I lack other paper. Fabriano here is the absolute winner, so I suppose it remains untouched my whole life.
