BOSS BATTLE FROM PHINA TOO
send me âboss battleâ, and iâll post the music that plays when your muse fights mine as a boss.
throne of the demon thief by zelda reorchestrated.
you know i was gonna be nice and just give you a song i can picture these two just sparring like normal loving sisters but :)
first off itâs good to know that this song starts out as the theme used for the battle in which ganondorf uses zelda as a puppet to fight link. so you can probably guess where iâm going from thereâŚaka: sylvana got in Too Deep w/ hermaeus mora and is all kinds of batshit crazy / disillusioned / emotionally broken / etc. which is very convenient for mora becauseâŚsylvana is so obsessed with being recognized and valued against her sister the dragonborn that sheâs willing to destroy all of tamriel for the sole purpose of stepping out of that shadow. or at least, hermaeus mora kind ofâŚplanted that idea in her head, which is FILLED with an amount of forbidden knowledge that would probably kill most mortals in their madness. it starts out very slow and very still ( cue Dramatic sailor moon villain speech here ) but thereâs a kind of sweet part!âŚwhere i imagine phina makes the plea that this isnât sylvie, that mora is just using herâŚ
which isâŚvery promptly Cut Off lol. and the battle music starts again, very slowly ( WITH THAT GOD DAMN CELLO GOD DAMN ), and you kind of get the image of a serpent slithering into the scene as sylvana makes her entry into the battlefield.
but as you can hear in this song, thereâs hints of zeldaâs lullaby among all the kind of oscillating and delirious kind of melodies, because thereâs still some scrap of sylvie, phinaâs bookish lil sis, underneath all the madness and bitterness that is the archmage of winterhold, handmaiden of apocrypha. and of course phina doesnât want to HURT her sister, mostly just defending herself against sylvanaâs RELENTLESS magic attacks, all while trying to appeal to that sliver of goodness still left in herâŚwhich at first only makes sylvana angrier out of sheer frustration because sheâs so !!! god damn invested and convinced in the âiâm not worthy of your love, i only want your FEARâ narrative that she justâŚonly gets more intense with her attacks. the piano is very quick in running through its notes and the general rhythm of this part of the song is very fast-paced, which is consistent with sylvanaâs fighting style being all about moving swiftly from place to place and never staying in one place too long, and generally using her magic to fight from a distance.
and of course since mages are shitty and tricky little fucks WITHOUT the influence of moraâs knowledge, sylvie is one of those bosses that just WONâT. FUCKING. DIE. sheâll summon all kinds of horrible shit from oblivion for phina to fight along the course of their battle, aka, the later part of the song, which is used for fighting ganonâs huge beast form. or, if you really want to go down angst lane, you can imagine these theme coming after phina finally has to kill sylvie :) but like every batshit megalomaniacal mage, necromancy is their one stop ticket to Having The Last Word, and so this last theme is phina having to fight her sisterâs dead body :) and basically indirectly fighting hermaeus mora himself :)
