Terajima and I don’t always see eye to eye on certain things (lol) but I sure would like to thank him for making it canon that Sawamura likes to hang out in Miyuki’s room just for fun.
Since they started holding their “Miyuki Cram School” sessions, we know that Sawamura spends a lot of time in Miyuki’s room. It probably happens so often that if Sawamura’s not in their room, Kuramochi just automatically assumes that he’s in Miyuki’s room. Hahahahaha.
(Honestly Mochi. He could be running, practicing, reviewing game videos or something but noooooo he must be in Miyuki’s room)
I absolutely adore how Miyuki and Sawamura are really just casually spending time in each other’s company like it’s nobody’s business. They didn’t even answer Okumura’s question about why Sawamura was there when there was no pitcher-catcher lessons that night.
I just had to write something about this. I apologize in advance for the shitty ficlet (?).
After dinner, the members of the Seido baseball team usually went on to do their own thing. Most of the team do extra batting practice while others would head to the gym for some weight training. For Sawamura though, it was neither. Since today was apparently a rest day as their menacing coach reminded him.
Satisfied with his choices from his shoujo manga pile, he heads back outside. He meets Asada out in the hall just outside their room. The other was just coming back after finally finishing those three heaping bowls of rice.
“Headed back out for more practice, senpai?” The first year asks.
“Nope. Today’s a rest day. I’m just gonna go hang out in Miyuki-senpai’s room for a bit!” Sawamura cheerfully announces.
Wow. They sure are close. That’s nice. Asada thinks to himself as he watches his senpai happily skip away.
Upon reaching Miyuki’s room, he knocks as a courtesy but let’s himself in anyway before anyone in the room could respond. It was only Miyuki here tonight. Their captain was predictably seated in his desk analyzing yet another scorebook. How hardworking.
“Pardon the intrusion, Miyuki Kazuya!” He announces loudly.
The catcher looks up to see their southpaw pitcher entering the room, carrying an armful of manga. The next thing he knows, Sawamura is already in his usual spot on the floor, lying down on his favourite pillow with both his feet raised in the air.
Well, don't you look comfortable.
“Carry on with your duties like a good captain. Don’t mind me!” Sawamura was already flipping through the manga that he’d bought with him.
He didn’t know when this had become normal for them but somehow, it was. Lately, it seems that Sawamura had taken a liking to spending time in Miyuki’s room even without the excuse of their baseball cram school sessions.
What was more surprising was that Miyuki realized that he didn’t really mind. He honestly thought he would. While he still grabs any opportunity to rile up their southpaw, he finds that he actually enjoys having normal conversations with him too. Sawamura would alternate between reading whatever shoujo manga he has with him on that day and telling him stories like his how Okumura had refused to the coach’s orders to catch for him or how the younger Kominato had shown him Ryousuke-san’s new haircut. Sometimes it would be completely random like about how he used to catch and collect beetles back in Nagano (Miyuki shuddered at that and Sawamura totally teased him for being a ‘ Typical City Boy’).
“Ahhhh! They got together! I knew it!” Sawamura exclaimed suddenly.
“They always get together, Bakamura. It’s literally the ending of every shoujo manga ever made.” Sawamura shot him a vicious glare at that. He couldn't help but smirk.
Ah. Teasing him is still so amusing though.
“Shut up, Miyuki Kazuya! You just don’t get it because you have a baseball for a heart. This is such a beautiful moment!"
If he gets this fond look on his face while looking at the loud-mouthed pitcher who was currently still gushing about a cliché shoujo manga couple, no one would have to know.
This got out of control real fast. Hahahaha.
