It might surprise you to discover that hope sometimes comes from the most unexpected places. Despite its reputation as a “gateway” drug and its notoriety in America’s drug culture, one “herb” has some remarkable curative properties, especially as it relates to pain and inflammation. Yes, we’re talking about marijuana. To give it a little more “prestige,” researchers call it by its Latin name, Cannabis sativa, and believe it or not, it’s been used in home remedies for thousands of years all over the world, in many different cultures. One key component of cannabis is called cannabidiol or CBD oil, and unlike another constituent of the plant, it is not psychoactive (no “reefer madness” here!).
