Smol Xiao Lanhua and Dongfang Qingcang!! He gathered morning dew for her ⚘

That moment where Changheng tries to stop DFQC from taking (read: rescuing) Lanhua, and instead of killing Changheng, DFQC changes the direction of his hellfire and unleashes the rivers.

"Do you want to save her, or your Shuiyuntian?"

He's carrying Lanhua, who is injured and bleeding, and he stops right next to Changheng, not even a foot away. He is confident that Changheng won't choose to save Lanhua, and he's throwing it in Changheng's face.

And he's right, Changheng just stands there while his greatest enemy walks away with the woman he loves.

To his credit, he does start to go after her, but Qing Chuan pleads with him to save Shuiyuntian. And of course, Changheng does.

But it got me thinking about how Dongfang Qingcang views Changheng at this point in the show. All he knows is what Lanhua and Shangque have told him. He probably also has his suspicions that Changheng cares for Lanhua personally.

But he has told Lanhua several times that he thinks Changheng is weak and a fool. He thinks that he doesn't recognize Lanhua's value.

So for me it comes down to the reason he decides not to kill Changheng. It's not because he can't physically. Before, I had thought it was because Lanhua had asked him not to, and I still think that may be a factor, but more than that I think that some part of him wants to prove (either to Lanhua or to himself) that Changheng wouldn't choose her.
