We were just messing around with proofing behaviors today and I’m so glad I got this on video. I’m continuously amazed with Fig’s resilience and problem solving. The challenge was just supposed to be that I hid the leash from him, not that it’d get stuck. This is exactly what I hoped to build with how I’ve raised him. Because it’s been a while since I’ve had a puppy in my house prior to him, I made several different choices. He’s also different from my previous dogs in that I’ve had to actively build these traits.

No matter what sport or life goals you have, a dog that can independently problem solve to complete a task correctly is at the core of it. It was hard for him and you can tell by the little victory lap at the end, but it’ll only serve to further build his self confidence for the next time he faces a challenge.

#my dogs #cane corso #we’re doing a training demo at a dog event next month so I’m proofing and cleaning up a lot of cues #my favorite type of demos to do are ones that show real practical applications to tricks and sports skills #the more you teach your dog the happier they’ll be and the more your life will be enhanced as well #not everything has to have a purpose #but it’s best when things can be fun and useful
