Candy Witch didn’t actually eat Hansel and Gretel and they lied abt her trying to do so to the point where it got written into the Storybook of Legends: boring. stereotypical. shys away from one of the most interesting dynamics possible. only done to make us sympathize w Ginger when she became a narrator.
Candy Witch DID try to eat Hansel and Gretel and leaned full send into her destiny but still genuinely cares about her daughter and accepts her decision to rebel because she wants Ginger to love something the way she loves her magic: amazing. interesting. parallels Ginger’s relationship to her mom to Raven and shows how her mother could have been a good mom while still being a bad person.
