like i understand the appeal of candy davejade as a tragic dynamic but you can keep it one sided still. the whole point with his character is that (in this timeline at least) dave would never be happy with a woman, so much so he rather die and become davebot and let everyone think hes gone than keeping the facade. dave also forces himself to believe he needs to be with jade, that he loves her and that they would be happy together, which obviously is not true. it also wouldnt make sense for him to use the word "gay" meaning queer in general bc of the context (that being him talking about his unhappy marrige with jade and how much he misses karkat, wishing he stayed with him instead).
