me drawing canalor: hmn....fuvzzy...

So I really wanted to draw Canalor and Adeleine together. This took me forever to finish, mainly because of my lack of micron pens.

FINALLY IM DONE working on her look—

This is Magolor’s sister, Canalor! She’s younger than he is, and she’s been living alone in the ruins of the Halcandran capital city ever since it was destroyed by dark magic when they were children.

She is very intelligent and taught herself how to build her own arm by studying everything she could find in the city. She has inherited her mother’s mild psychic abilities as well. And although she believes everyone else is gone, she dreams of meeting her family’s Starcutter someday.

Her clothing follows the color conventions of Halcandran society—white ear tips for engineering, pale blue scarf for psychic powers, and yellow is a traditionally feminine color among Halcandrans.

To be honest, I wandered around for a long time with just the one arm. I was just a little kid when I lost it, so there wasn’t a lot I could do otherwise.

One day, a few years after the attack, I remembered this family friend—I think he worked with my mom, but I’m not sure. He had a really cool prosthetic leg that used to fascinate me when I was little. So I figured, maybe I could have something like that too.

Since there wasn’t anybody around to stop me, I just stole a bunch of books about mechanics, robotics, and engineering from houses and stores and stuff. I had to start from square one, but I was always pretty good with science and numbers, so it wasn’t impossible.

I had a lot of prototypes made out of different materials before I found the one that worked best. Here’s a tip: glass arms look super cool, but are wildly impractical!

Anyway, I finished this arm probably about twenty years ago, when I was around 50 years old. But in human time, I was about 15 when I completed it!

Mago keeps telling me he could improve it, but I don’t want him to. This is my arm and it’s filled with my experiences and memories and tears. I think that’s more important than having something more sleek and modern.
