A Beach Fly that was hiding under the seaweed on the ocean-facing beach at Dunedin.
The only member of its genus, and endemic to Aotearoan beachs. The Canacid family are mostly intertidal flies, but some live on the surface of small fresh and saltwater bodies, in places protected from wind. They feed on microscopic aquatic organisms.
