When my son became a Joey Scout I promised to make him a camp blanket. He then became a Cub Scout, Scout, Venturer, and Rover Scout. As he moved through each section he asked what had happened to his camp blanket. I kept promising. Soon!. He then approached the age of 26 and he still didn’t have a camp blanket. I realised I needed to get my act together and follow through on my promise. I collected some of the badges he had collected over the year and prepared small blocks of 10cm squares. The background colours of the squares were red, green, burgundy, yellow and ochre. Purple and blue. ( the purple squares contain badges from international events) The colours of the various Australian Scout sections and international scouting. Onto each square I sewed a badge. These were then hand sewn to make the blanket. It’s a single size. I have many more squares I can add on to enlarge it or make a few more blankets.
