Finally I finished the Kingdom scale map for Dawning. Got the main towns/cities written down although not all of the details on them all, revised the size of Arina’lok, the major lakes/bodies of water, islands, and rivers. The hilly region, the forests, and the start of the mountainous portion of the map are all finally designed down.
I’ve got the very beginning of the adventure put together in its entirety, including the opening encounter set up and introduction to important characters. I’ve got a later adventure started out/begun to be plotted. All that remains now is getting down the starting details for the adventure itself, the province scale map for the adventure, and then any specific smaller maps that need to crop up during the first session (aside from the 2 maps I have done already).
I’ve even gotten the bits and bobs to tie into character backstories, so all in all it’s been a productive week in regards to getting the first session put together. Considering the 1st official session is on Wednesday I think I’m making good progress. I just need to finish working out the rest of the encounters, npc designs for the first adventure, and anything else I can reasonably expect to crop up in the 2 hours the session is supposed to last.
By the way does anyone have a good suggestion for any sort of online program aside from photoshop to help me translate my handwritten scrappy maps into a digital map with the hex/squares? It’d make my life so much easier. Roll20′s setup isn’t too horrible, but it doesn’t lend to the cleanness that I’m looking towards. Any suggestion is honestly welcome.
