Cameron Chell is a business entrepreneur who has founded and co-founded various innovative high-technology companies. Currently living in Venice, California, Chell is originally from Fort Macleod, Canada. Growing up in the small town of Fort Macleod, Chell was the son of the local butcher, who Chell says was the person who he looked up to the most and who instilled in him lifelong values of always doing more than what’s expected of you. Chell began his start-up career in 1997 with the high-tech company FutureLink; he then went on to co-found a computer software company called Engyro in 1999. After moving to the United States, Chell learned that the startup industry in Canada was better, which was just as well for him since the technology sector in Canada was ripe for innovation in several industries, in particular in the oil and gas industries. After moving back to Canada and selling his share in FutureLink, Chell founded and became the CEO of Business Instincts Group, which grants people with innovative and inspiring start-up ideas the opportunity to work with a number of specialists in different industry sectors to ensure that their company will be successful. Other notable companies that Chell helped co-found are UrtheCast, which produces HD video that is streamed from space, and SLYCE, which makes it possible for the immediate purchase of anything a smartphone user snaps a picture of. As well as being a dedicated family man and entrepreneur, Chell is the author of The Sustainable Startup and a guest writer for The Globe and Mail.
