Camera and lighting tutorial.
This was helpfull as a refresher on the studio spaces and also helped me consider how I might actually make my film. We were showed how to safely move the lights and camera forward and back and how to use the magic arms.
Some notes on health and safety:
- keep on eye on obstructions ,like wires, when moving the lights or cameras.
- don’t over use the magic arms, unsutible angles will cause them to droop over time.
- be mindfull when moving the old style lights, wear the gloves provided if they’re too hot.
- be mindful of your studio space. It’s easy to leave pins out or on the floor or to walk into low hanging lights.

Some things that I have to think about now are:
* Camera angles and shots, like panning or movement, ect. can be done in post but will give the film a diffrent feeling. Where as zooming in or out should look just the same when done in post. Moving the camera whilst filming a stop motion film is something I’m not so confident with so I think I’ll have to do some research or ask for some more information from Tracy.
* The depth of fild is also something that can be explored in the film. Blurring out and focusing in on certain aspects can help inform the audiance.
*This can also be done with the lights as they’re is the option to dim down and focuse lights. Lenses can also be changed to give clearer of closer shots for extreme close ups.
* Key lighting, Back lighting and Kickers are diffrent parts of the stage where light can be focused to create diffrent atmosphers, themes and feelings.
* Items like Diffuser papper, Coloured gels, Black wrap can also help set a specific mood or atmos.
