                𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐄  𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄  𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃  𝐈𝐍  𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇  𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑'𝐒      existence  ,    when  sarah  takes  krissy’s  hands  something  that  resides  deep  within  the  inky  abyss  of  her  mind  still    QUESTIONS    the  random  action  .    psyche  remembers  lovers  of  past    &    so  does  her  body  ,    the  title    LOVERS    used  so  loosely  because  was  love  really  involved  in  it  ?    not  really  .    they  were  nights  of  convenience  ,    a  deal  between  two  people  with  terms    &    agreements  set  in  place  before  the  deeds  were  done  .    scratching  an    ITCH    that  you  can’t  quite  reach  by  yourself  .    sometimes  imagining  each  other  as  different  people  during  ,    no  words  exchanged  afterwards  besides  maybe  a    that  was  good  ,    was  it  for  you  ?    BUSINESS    .    just  like  every  other  fucking  thing  in  krissy’s  life  .                    not  sarah  cameron  ,    though  .    krissy’s  visits  to  specifically  find  the  other  wasn’t  backed  by  any  pre  established  plan  for  work    &    maybe  a  little  bit  of  play  .    the  chambers  girl  somehow  finds  her  way  back  right  here  .    with  the  girl  with  sun  kissed  hair    &    cheeks  that  round  so  cutely  when  she  grins  .    merely  wanting  to  just    EXIST    with  her  .    that  wasn’t  normal  for  her  .    (    albeit  ,    NORMAL    for  krissy  chambers  of  course  was  anyone  else’s  nightmares  come  to  life    )    to  be  in  the  company  of  someone  else  there  usually  would  have  to  be  a  reason  .    a  case  that  needed  solving  ,    a  monster  on  the  loose    &    devastating  a  town  ,    never  did  she  seek  out  someone  else  just  because  .    until  now  .    (    she’s  waiting  for  the  other  shoe  to  drop  ,    waiting  for  the  rug  to  be  ripped  out  from  under  her  ,    the  universe  has  been    TOO  KIND    )                 when  sarah’s  soft  pads  of  digits  skin  the  scarred  skin  on  the  backs  of  krissy’s  hands  her  first  initial  reflex  was  to  pull  away  .  touch    TOO  TENDER    .    when  her  skin  has  become  accustomed  to  being  beaten  black    &    blue  ,    claws  razor  sharp  slicing  into  flesh    &    teeth  gnashing  ;    these  affections  funnily  enough  had  brave  huntress    ON  EDGE  .    curiosity  shines  ,    mixing  in  with  umber  as  she  follows  fingers  dancing  with  purpose  over  bones  of  knuckles  ,    mapping  out  every  line  before  suddenly  without  a  word  she’s  pulling  krissy’s  hand  up  .    a  kiss  .    the  touch  so  feathery  soft  if  she  hadn’t  been  watching  sarah  so  intently  she  could’ve  mistaken  it  as  her  imagination  running  rampant  again    (    does  she  think  of  the  other  in  her  spare  time  ?    )    lips  part  as  puff  of  air  is  released  at  the  show  of  care  demonstrated  .    the  sound  finally  pulling  doe  eyes  up  from  her  concentration  ,    &    with  their  eyes  now  locked  a  second  kiss  to  the  meaty  part  just  below  krissy’s  thumb  .    velvety  soft  ,  lingering  .    INTENTIONAL  .    it  means  something  .    what  does  it  mean  ?                 a  mystery  krissy  is  determined  to  solve  .   

This tenderness is new to her. Someone putting her first, rather than the other way around. Sometimes the weight of it all feels too heavy for her shoulders. It is this smallest act of kindness that brings that familiar sting behind her nose. Her mouth presses to a hard line. She does not cry in front of people, she does not cry in front of people. Her body betrays her quickly, tears collecting along her waterline. Cheek turned away from Sarah, she tries a moment to collect herself before she finally speaks --- ❛ You don't, uh, you don't have to stay. ❜

❛ Shush, hey --- ❜ Arlo crouches down to her height; his chest aches at the sorrow in her voice, wondering what could have happened to change the course. Playing out all those scenarios in his head. Unfortunately, things did not work out any different than they had. The enemy was always time. Unable to go back and fix mistakes, only able to go forward. A hand reaches out, pressing flush against her knee. One simple act of comfort. No words will take away the pain she feels, he knows better than to think so, so all he can do is offer up his support. ❛ Do you want to talk about it? ❜

sweat pours down her dirt riddled face and mixes with the crimson staining her cheeks, filling her senses with the smell of iron so strong it almost made her sick. the body laying on the floor ahead had long since stopped moving, stopped talking back, but the rage he infected them with lingered. funny how demons poke and prod at healed skin until the wound reopened, stinging just as bad as it had when it were fresh. maybe worse. an actual hell ── that's where they were. " sarah that's enough. " but it wasn't loud enough. she wasn't even sure it made it past her lips ── even if it did it barely resonates with her. throat clears and she swallows hard. one more time. " SARAH ! " louder ── maybe she'd actually hear her. " that's enough ! he's dead, okay ? he's dead.
