There's this Callisia cultivar that is widely available in Mexico, but no one in Mexico tried to register it with the International Cultivar Registration Authority (tradescantia.uk).
AND NOW someone asked to register it after it was recently introduced to the US, but it has existed in Mexico for decades. The ISHS decided it would be fairer to choose the name by community vote. And it should clearly have a Mexican name, it deserves that!!!
