Desiree: âRunning away isnât going to fix what a terrible person you are, Ginny.â
Ginger rolls her eyes and does not rise to the bait, moving to step past her sister and leave the room. Desiree steps with her, blocking her path and propping her hands on her hips to stop her from getting past.
Desiree: âWell? The least you can do is apologise for ruining my life.â
Ginger: âI have nothing to apologise for, Desiree. I have not done anything to you. Everything that has happened is because of your actions.â
Desiree: âBut youâre on the school newspaper! You influenced people not to vote for me!â
Ginger: âRead my articles and tell me where they were biased.â
Desiree: âWellâŠy-you turned all of your friends against me!â
Ginger: âYou dated my best friend behind my back to spite me, used her and now she refuses to speak to me. I have no friends left, Desiree. I didnât sway anyone against you.â
Desiree: âYou always have something to argue against me. Youâre all talk and youâre so fake. I hate you! Youâre going to fail your course and not get into university.â
Ginger pauses, her heart catching as Desiree screams at her. She is stunned, unable to believe how much her sister hates her. She has been difficult and made her life miserable, certainly, but she thought it was out of childish jealousy - not out of hate. Taking a deep breath, Gingerâs tone of voice turns deep and sincere.
Ginger: âI could never hate you, Desiree. I forgive you for whatever you have done to me and for whatever you will try to do to me. I canât protect everyone anymore. They need to grow and become strong themselves. Good luck. Iâll see you on my birthday.â
With that, Ginger slips out, feeling all of her emotions rush over her as she verbally lets go of her responsibilities. Itâs time to move on. Itâs time for a new chapter in everyoneâs lives.
