I’ve talked about the term of “cripple punk” before. I’ve also have been viewing the discourse of it as well for about a month or two now.

“Cripple punk” isn’t an aesthetic for most, but rather a community where physically disabled people can discuss about their issues & activism for physical disability.

I support physically disabled people and I think they deserve a community that uplifts them & talk about their needs specifically.

This doesn’t mean I don’t support mentally disabled people. I’m autistic and I have various of mental illnesses that have interfered with my life, and will continue to do so.

I just think it’s important for physical disabled people to discuss their needs, their issue, and their activism. Considering this world is continuously ableist as time passes and the needs of physically disabled people aren’t met.

Not all places have automatic doors, or buttons. Not all places have easy access. Not all places have safe parking spaces. I’ve been to places where the parking spaces are dangerous for those physically disabled, I’ve had one come into my work place because one of the slates were coming off & they could’ve injured themselves. A lot of physically disabled people struggle financially, some still struggle getting disability approved. Some can’t get married because of disability, they don’t want to lose it, etc.

I’ve learned a lot from physically disabled people. Why straws are important. Why not to step on automatic door buttons (things I used to do when I was a pre-teen/teenager). Why not to touch someone’s mobility aid without their consent. How there are bills & laws that make their lives worse, and how some could make it better if it comes to affect (which also affects mentally disabled people).
