I think one of my favorite takes or realizations about Deltarune is the fact Toby makes it increasingly more and more obvious that YOU are the one in control and all things that occur are because of your own choices. There's no one else to blame but yourself. It's almost like he saw what and how the fandom treated Chara in Undertale and he had to be like-
"Aight, lemme teach 'em somethin' real quick about accountability-"
And I love how he achieved that by showing us players how unwilling Kris is. How often they fight back, how they try to regain control, show remorse, and punish us for making them do things they didn't want to do to begin with.
Chara is also a victim of being influenced by the players choices, without the player Chara would have never regained their awareness, they just would have drifted.
And I think, for one, it is both the funniest spoonfeeding lesson ever and the most beautiful one. I'd rather learn this lesson from a game than by my own mistakes IRL.
