--- he had sensed it. @calamxty
A new sensation that he had not been told about, but it was to be expected. This was a collection of beings, born into the world from the endless well of power that was the gracious and wise oni king, that had bestowed upon them, power. But more than that, so much more than that.
It was something that others could not understand.
How could they, when they had no idea what it was like. To have your life slip through your fingers and to have one and all around you merely roll their eyes at you, tell you this is life, this is the way, there is nothing that can be done, make peace, make amends, enjoy the time you have, live your life as well as can be and die with your head held high.
Death.
The final slap to the face of someone who did not wish for it. Has he ever once lived a single day within his life, for himself? Had he done anything, ever for himself in his life? No, it had always been for the actions and needs of those around him, he did what they wanted always and the first time in his life, it was right at the end of it, when he had finally had the chance to do something he wished to do.
As he kneeled before the oni king and offered his life to him.
This was the thing others did not understand. They call him a traitor. Treachery, betrayer, scum of the earth, just words to him at this point. He did what he had to do, he saw someone who wished to offer him a means to an end, a second chance and he has taken it, who else had the right to judge him. This was the land of blood and tears. Killing was within there culture, as well as treachery, honour flipped flopped so often, that none even knew what it means, honour in yourself and honour in the one you serve, if the one you serve is weak, why serve them.
He was serving a literal god now, how can anyone understand.
“I felt it.”
As he stood there for the moment. Coming to his aid was what he had to do, to cross the country to find him as quickly as possible and shield him from humans and demons. He was vulnerable and weak. It would not take anything from anyone at all, to find him like this and finish what the sun breather had started.
How his cells had went into a frenzy, how his blood had boiled within him, how he had fallen onto his hands and knees and almost threw up, the level of blood his master had given him, had linked them stronger than anyone and everyone else, what his master felt, he had felt and he knew there and then, his master was in danger. It had nothing to do with his own life, if his master died, he died, hardly. It would be failure and nothing more, if the man who saved his life, turned around and got harmed and he was not there to aid and protect him as was his purpose.
“A testament to your strength my lord, as well as your power.”
He stepped forward, and looked around the area where it happened, where his master had fought the sun breather, how his master had to destroy his own body and lose a thousand pieces of himself, with so little being able to get away from them, as he adjusted the small bundle within his arms, moving it up a little bit and keeping the silk blanket over him to protect him. He was so small, so much of him had been destroyed, nothing more than an infant as he was now, and others would kill him right here, right now, but he would not.
“There is no trace of him, I cannot pick up his scent or his presence.” A look around, there was nothing there, as if the sun breather, was a part of nature, he could only smell the bushes, the grass, the dirt, the animals. Nothing. “And she has fled as well.” The traitor, humorous. A traitor calling a traitor out on there actions, but there was a difference. He never believed within the demon slayers, never bought into it, never cared, but with the demon king, he believed in his power, his vision, his goals and when you have someone who can inspire you and place some feelings of worth within you, that meant a great deal.
“He will be executed for his failure, but …” As he glanced down. “ A child rules them now my lord, sort heart, weak orders. He will spare him, banishment.” Still works in their favour. “As for her, gone into hiding, her blood art has erased all trace of her.” As he scanned the area once more, and walked forward over the spot once more where his master had been cut down as he could not see, any of his blood that fell under the bushes or the tress, no pieces of him remained, they had all been destroyed.
“My concern is for you, my lord.” Commands are commands, but like this, he could not leave him alone, as he kept him close, holding him up and moving the sheet from his head a little but to let him see that it was safe.
“For now, they are not a threat.”
