I don’t really like most of the YA recently published. yes, I know that seems like such a broad generalization. But I am driven more by prose than fast plot and YA tend to lean more on the latter. Disliked Divergent from the beginning for example.
I agree. I don't read much young adult either (besides the Summer I Turned Pretty series and It's Kind of a Funny Story are the only YA that I have actually liked because Han has a beautiful style of writing and I could relate to Vizzini). I haven't even bothered to read Divergent because I feel like books like that are all the same -Hunger Games, Maze Runner, etc. I definitely prefer meaning and prose, like you, over plot. I'm glad I'm not alone!
