cafe ile, mclean, va (just a hop skip away from tysons galleria). just a lovely restaurant with exquisite sushi, yummy pastries and the best oatly caffe latte i have ever tasted. they have the most interesting dishes - we got beautiful scallop two ways tonight and had mackerel that had pressed crunchy white roe in the sashimi combo another time. they make their own soy sauce. they are just really nice people.
cafe ile, a newly open “hidden gem” in mclean, va. the name is a bit misleading - whilst they sell coffee, tartines and croissants for breakfast/lunch, they only serve sushi for dinner. it is very cosy space that is divided into three sections - to go coffee bar, dining section, sushi bar section (bar facing near sushi chefs and another bar facing the parking lot). i really like the lighting - methinks they hand manipulate them so each fixture looks slightly different from the others. before we ordered, they provided us some seaweed salad and octopus two ways (cooked and uncooked). the soy sauce is made in-house. the seafood was fresh, so fresh that i really did not need the soy sauce. i was remiss in not lauding everyone at cafe ile- they were extremely gracious and sweet.
