Anyone remember the cabin I stayed in last year? The one my parents co-own? Well, I’m there now. Hopefully it’ll inspire me like last year. It’s too dark outside now, but I’ll try to take some cute pictures tomorrow. The dogs run around the place and were so happy, especially Morotî. I stopped looking for one second and he was in the water. He loves being here. Now they are resting at my feet, clearly very tired.

So my parents co-own a property with a cabin somewhere remote, and they need someone to stay overnight a few days, to cabin sit, if you will. I'm not sure wether or not there'll be internet there, but I'll be lurking around on mobile. And I will take this time to work on my projects. I need some alone time and to be in nature to get inspired. If I can, I will show you pics. It's a beautiful place and I'm excited.
Edit: I say remote loosely. It's like outskirts of town. And they should be getting internet for security cameras so maybe I'll have internet even.
I feel like I haven’t posted about the garden like at all so I just wanted to give a little update
There’s a few things I’m not so sure about, but I’m taking this year as a learning year with where I am and what kind of conditions I have, so I’m trying to not take any losses or anything too hard. That said though, I don’t want to jinx it, but for the most part it’s doing pretty well!
I decided to go with plant starts for the most part this year and only ended up doing a few things from seed, mostly as a combination of being busy and somewhat lazy
I’ve gotten several cherry tomatoes so far, and there are many more on the plants that are still growing/ripening, as well as a bunch of green romas that I’m hoping will start ripening soon
Plus a couple of jalapeños and one little bell pepper, all still fairly small and growing, but I’ve never had good luck with peppers so I was pleased they were fruiting at all
Nothing else is fruiting yet (which I wasn’t expecting it to) but my cucumber is covered in flowers rn so I am hopeful
I’ve got a fair number of herbs, most of which are doing pretty well (except for two chamomile starts I got at the farmer’s market, which I think might die tbh). I have 4 kinds of mint (well, 3+catnip if you like semantics) all in one long container in the hopes that they’ll keep each other relatively in check, and it’s actually working fairly well so far
Also the first of the marigold seeds I planted finally flowered! There’s quite a few of them that have sprouted pretty well and I think might bloom soon, but I was delighted to see the first one today
We appear to have either a carpenter ant or termite infestation and it is causing some major stress
We do have an exterminator coming (which freaks me out anyway tbh) but he can’t come til Monday
Also we’ve had some crazy weather today
