After 4 years the CA Craft beer Summit returned this week. Hosted by the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA), the summit is the most important event for the 1100+ CA craft brewers to meet and plan for the future of their industry. @cacraftbrewers #cabeersummit Yesterday, David Walker, Co-Founder of @firestonewalker , opened the summit sessions. He emphasized the importance of CA craft brewers working together as a community as well as staying rooted in beer culture. Said David, “We need to own who we are. “ Bart Watson, Chief Economist of the Brewers Association, provided an update of the economic status of the craft beer industry - which is still recovering from the pandemic. In a CCBA legislative update session, Lori Ajax (Executive Director of the CA Craft Brewers Association) emphasized the need to educate incoming CA government legislators and protect market access. Jacque and Ryan Fields of @wildfieldsbrewhouse shared the inspiring story of survival after opening their brewery 3 months prior to COVID shutdown. Survival included creating innovative ways to get their beers to consumers. They emerged from the shutdown to win 3 Gold Medals at the Great American Beer Festival as well as being named Brewer/Brewery of the Year (501-1000 barrels).
