CHARACTERS ā Frankie Hollingsworth & Zig Novak DATE āĀ Monday, January 2 LOCATION ā East Toronto Hospital SUMMARY ā Zig visits Frankie in the hopsital and the two discuss Frankieās new position as a princess.
Zig stared down at Frankie's message once again. He noticed when he told her the news about her becoming a princess the girl seemed rather hesitant. He didn't know whether it was from the fact she was still recovering or if it was too much news to handle in such little time. Zig was in the waiting room, waiting for the nurse to ring up information on Frankie before proceeding into her room. There was something about hospitals that made him uncomfortable. If it wasn't the smell which reeked of medicine and cleaning products, it was the uncomfortable air of people waiting. People who were sick, possibly dying, or people who just wanted to see their loved ones. Zig started to bounce his leg as he waited for his name to be called. A minute later he heard the nurse, "Zigmund Novak," it was his cue. Zig approached the nurse waiting for her answer. "Frankie Hollingsworth is in room 407. Here is your visitor's pass." Zig thanked the nurse and grabbed the bag full of food since he didn't know what Frankie was in the mood for. As he approached the room, he took a deep breath before opening it. "I...I didn't know what you wanted so I got stuff from McDonalds, Subway, and of course Timbits."
Frankie was still in shock from everything that happened; the last few days all felt like a blur of bad luck and stupid decisions. At least this time she hadn't woken up with no memory of her past, but she was starting to think that maybe not remembering things would've been easier than having to deal with the reality of it all. She was sitting up in the hospital bed watching TV and attempting not to focus on her worries when she turned to see the door open. Beaming at the sight of Zig, she quickly shut off the TV and motioned for him to come closer. "Thank you so much, you're so sweet," Frankie told him with a smile as she took one of the bags of food and set it on the side table. "This will probably last me a whole day, even though I should be home by tomorrow afternoon," She added with a soft chuckle. Gesturing for him to sit, she reached out to hold his hand. "I'm glad to see you. I haven't really been able to stop thinking about everything that happened and I feel like talking might help me instead of just worrying about it all in my head so much."
Zig nodded as she wanted him to sit down. Zig gently allowed his hand to touch hers, making him sit in the chair next to her. The past few days were wild considering the event that went down at Luke's party, with Tori's pregnancy getting exposed. The fact Becky and her brother Luke managed to get into a car accident, as well as his own girlfriend and Miles. On top of that it didn't help that Clare decided to go on a tea spilling spree just to bring someone down due to her paranoia of losing power. Zig then remembered, "Oh! I got some drinks from the vending machine in my bag." He managed to take out some lemonade, fruit punch, and various sodas. "I didn't know what you would want considering you're recovering and all. Anyway...what do you want to talk about?"
Frankie smiled gratefully as he took out the drinks, reaching for a fruit punch. "Again, thanks. This was nice of you." She took a deep breath before opening the can and taking a long sip. She didn't exactly know how to tell Zig precisely what was on her mind, but she was going to try her best to explain it. He was actually one of the few people that she felt she could truly trust. "Zig...I did something awful," Frankie began, glancing down at her lap instead of his eyes. "I-I, well...I leaked that photo. The one of Tori, and...I felt awful ever since, she never did anything to me, but Becky told me I needed to take Tori down if I wanted to be a princess and I saw the opportunity so I-I...did that." She finally met her gaze, her eyes filled with shame and sadness. "And I guess it worked, but with the guilt and then the accident, which felt like bad karma...I just...I don't think I can be a princess. Not if it means having to do awful things and feeling horrible about it afterwards. I just...don't know...what to do."
Zig listened to Frankie and felt his smile turn into a frown. Part of him already had an idea that she would have done something to be able to get into the princess and the fact Clare celebrated the reveal made it even more suspicious that the princesses did something. He then allowed his hand to place it on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "It's okay Frankie, we all do things that we regret. I mean, remember why you wanted to be a princess in the first place? It was so that you can change the group and make them nicer. I mean even the rudest of demons have heart. Sometimes you might have to play dirty in order to be able to bring good into something." Zig didn't know what to say considering that she was now officially a princess. "I mean, you're in. I don't think they would have you do much anymore unless it's for war."
Frankie felt a wave of relief at his words, glad that he wasn't too upset with her. "I guess you're right, but I don't want to end up being the one who changes," She admitted with a sigh. "I noticed the way Clare addressed Arlene and it was as if all of their interactions between now and the beginning of the year were completely fake. That could've been /me/ if I hadn't done this awful expose thing." She sighed, burying her face into her hands as she tried not to break down. The trauma from the accident along with her guilt just made everything seem difficult right now. Finally looking back up at Zig, she attempted to straighten up a bit. "Zig, what do you honestly think? Should I stay a princess? Should I just try to go on pretending that everything's fine and that my friends don't hate me? Or should I back down?"
Zig "Please, there is something going on with Clare causing her to be twice the bitch she is considering Arlene was one an indie," Zig whispered stopping in mid sentence before revealing he was giving away his own personal suspicious from the account Hunter and him were running. Zig glanced at her, "I don't think that could have been you. Clare was going after Vanessa and used Arlene to get to her. I mean Franks, I highly doubt she was going to turn against you like that. She would be stupid to considering Miles is part of the Posse." Zig stared at Frankie, she was looking to him for advice. "Honestly, I think you've worked hard for being a princess because you want the group to change, so stay it. When the time is right, your natural leadership will overturn Clare and Becky. Let them duke it out and when the time is right maybe you can change the system. They won't be at Degrassi for much longer."
Frankie considered his statement before nodding slowly. It was true, it didn't make sense for Clare to suddenly be so rude towards Arlene when she didn't really have any reason to be, right? Was she missing something? "I don't understand why Clare and Vanessa hate each other all of a sudden either, but I hope I can stay out of it," Frankie spoke with another sigh. "I'm glad she didn't turn against me now, but what if she ever does? I mean, look at what happened with Zoe. A few wrong moves and I could end up like her." Frankie groaned and threw her head back onto her pillow, rubbing her eyes. Glancing at Zig again as he spoke, a small smile finally began to form on her face. She felt comforted by his optimism. "You really think so? /I/ could be a princess leader?" She chuckled at the thought. "Maybe you have a point. Maybe I should just accept the position and try to lay low for a while. I need a break from everything anyway..."
Zig pondered a bit. "Maybe she's just so bitter ever since KC and her are no longer seeing each other and he's after Zoe. Maybe she still has feelings for KC and is getting pissed that the break up was for Zoe." No one really had any idea as to why Clare and KC broke up, Zig figured it had to be over the fact Clare was most likely dumped by KC. "I guess being dumped can cause someone to go on a rampage." He then heard her ask about the Vanessa situation. "Maybe Clare had been planning that for awhile. I mean last year Katie and Vanessa had butted heads quite a few times, so I figured Clare was just getting revenge for a girl who doesn't even go here anymore." Zig then smirked, "I highly doubt that, their group is small in numbers and Clare wouldn't be able to find a replacement if she kicked you out. Yeah, I think you have a shot at being a leader Frankie. You just gotta lay low and let the others kill each other first," he winked. Zig then gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "That's a good thing. Also, if they ever need you to do anything mean, just let me do the "mean" things for you so that way you won't feel guilty about it."
Frankie was a bit surprised by Zig's knowledge of the drama that seemed to be going on, but he always had been pretty attentive even if he managed to avoid drama more often than not. "Yeah, maybe, I guess...she might have some things going on in her personal life that I have no idea about," Frankie agreed with a sigh. "You think Clare would have such a personal vendetta against Vanessa because of Katie? Her devotion to Katie confuses me, I mean, I get that they were best friends and everything but...I don't know, I think she just wants to live up to Katie's name...it's all confusing," She said, brushing off the subject as she brought a hand to her forehead. "You make a good point, I mean...it's really just Clare, Becky and Alli. The princesses used to seem so much more intimidating, but now that /I'm/ one of them, it doesn't feel so much that way anymore." Frankie smiled at his reassurance, motioning for him to move closer so she could wrap her arms around his neck and bury her head into his shoulder. "You'd really do that? You'd be willing to? Are you sure? I don't even think Clare would be okay with seeing me near you...not that it's going to change anything," She promised with a smile.
Zig glanced at Frankie and nodded. "Or maybe the rumors about her being into girls are true. I mean, maybe her devotion to Katie is actually her being in love with Katie or something," he joked trying to make light of a serious subject. Zig laughed a bit, "Yeah, once you're in, you're in. The only thing is....we would have to be very tactful in sneaking around. Or you might need to find someone to pretend to like otherwise Clare or Becky might become suspicious in the near future." Zig felt her head onto his shoulder, this caused the dark haired boy to smile more. There was things he was willing to do for Frankie, mainly because he didn't want Frankie to lose the chance of being able to change the princesses into a clique that is more accepting of others instead of being intimidating. "Yeah, of course. I'll just be doing it in secret, don't worry."
Frankie couldn't help but giggle at the prospect of Clare actually being in love with Katie, but Zig had a point; it was possible. It might explain a lot. "Yeah, um...now that Hunter and Lola are dating, Lola has mentioned setting me up to go on double dates with them...it's a little weird and I haven't told her about us, but maybe I'll play along, just to keep Clare and Becky thinking that I'm, well...single," She said with a small laugh. It would definitely be awkward to pretend she wasn't completely into Zig, but it might be something she had to do for a little while at least, and it helped that Zig was understanding about it. "Thank you...I don't think I could handle all of this without you. I'll let you know how this new semester starts off as a princess...it's sure to be interesting one way or another."
