Apollo proposes to you privately. It happens somewhere quiet, in a place that means something to both of you. He remembers every place you’ve loved, every place that made you feel welcome.

His hands shake when he gets down on one knee and asks. He had prepared a small speech in his head, but he gets so nervous he forgets it! Apollo ends up just saying your name and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. When you nod and enthusiastically say yes, he exhales like he’s been holding a single breath for months during the preparation.

Apollo wants a small, intimate wedding. Close friends, family you both trust, no extended obligation invites. He doesn’t want a spectacle. He wants everything to have intent. He’s particular about the location. Apollo wants it to mean something while still being scenic. Somewhere near water has always sounded right. Eventually, you settle on a wedding held on a cliffside overlooking the ocean.

Of course he wants the most beautiful dress he can find. It isn’t bright white. It’s soft ivory, pale silver, or light blue. Apollo wants something that complements his blue tone rather than washing him out. The dress is long sleeved with delicate lace. It has a high neckline and a structured corset. The skirt flows, more cathedral than ballgown. He asks for subtle details, like embroidered constellations that almost match the fabric. His gloves are satin, his jewelry is silver, and he makes sure his veil is long enough to catch in the wind but short enough to keep him from tripping.

Apollo barely eats the day of the wedding. He keeps checking that everything is in order. He’s afraid of anything going wrong. Eurydice and Artemis have to force him to sit down just so he can breathe. Having his siblings by his side makes everything feel easier to handle. Eurydice is happy to help him get ready. Artemis acts more like a hype man.

The first time he looks at himself fully dressed, he can’t believe it. It overwhelms him. It almost makes him cry with joy! He never thought he deserved this. He never thought he’d be the one wearing a dress to his own wedding. He proved everyone who said he couldn’t wrong. Apollo spends hours on his makeup, wearing dark eyeliner, cool toned eyeshadow, and silver body glitter.

Apollo wants you to walk down the aisle together, so you do. You lock arms and move slowly, like the moment could last forever. Seeing the faces of friends and family who mean so much to you, on a beautiful cliffside, while you’re locked arm in arm with the man of your dreams makes you feel like you’re already in heaven. When you reach the altar, you can feel Apollo’s gloved hands trembling. You take one in yours and give it a delicate kiss.

He admits he was afraid of love for a long time. He thanks you for being patient with him. He promises you stability, loyalty, and honesty. He’ll never treat you like something temporary. Apollo maintains eye contact the whole time. The kiss isn’t dramatic or dipped. He holds your face with both hands, his thumb resting near your jaw as you lock lips.

The reception is still small, full of candlelight and warm lighting. You choose soft music, instrumental jazz and classical. During his speech, Apollo praises you more than himself. He thanks you for loving him. He thanks you for choosing him.

Apollo is incredibly curious. The idea of otherkins never even crossed his mind before! Because Apollo asks you so many questions about what it’s like, he learns a lot about you and your experiences.

He and his siblings understand what it’s like to live as something nonhuman, so he’d never judge you for being otherkin, even if he doesn’t entirely get the concept. He’s learning through you!

He researches your kintype because he wants to understand it better. Apollo wants to show you he cares.

Apollo’s especially enthusiastic if your kintype is aquatic! He tells you all about his favorite aquatic animals, especially sharks.

He’s relieved to know that he’s with someone who wouldn’t see him any differently for his different appearance.

➤ Adonis June

Adonis is super excited about the whole concept. It immediately wants to know everything, though his questions are more rapid fire than Apollo’s.

It gladly takes the chance to proudly show off his cat arm prosthetics! They’re one of his favorite things, and he’s happy you like them too.

Adonis constantly boosts your confidence, he could praise you all day long if you’d let him! It helps you feel more assured. Just make sure you do the same for him, he needs it too!

Adonis is sure to match your enthusiasm when you receive any new gear. He’s big on making sure he doesn’t make you feel like your feelings are small.

More than anything, Adonis wants you to feel like you can exist without hiding.

➤ Artemis June

Artemis accepts it almost immediately. To him, it’s just another thing about you, but he’ll tease you affectionately, as he does with just about everyone.

If you’re birdkin and fluff your “phantom feathers,” he’ll grin. Birds of a feather flock together!

Artemis takes any serious mockery personally. Nothing ruffles his feathers (pun intended) more than seeing people mocked for harmless self expression.

If your instincts make you act differently, he doesn’t make it weird. He’s a bird, he has instincts that make him act differently too! It’s something for you to bond over.

If it’d help you to feel like you can fly, he’s glad to pick you up and take you soaring through the sky! It’s also a good way for him to show off, which he loves doing.

➤ Eurydice June

Eurydice understands completely! Having a friend who has an experience somewhat similar to hers makes her feel understood, too.

Working with animals has made her incredibly patient. She knows every living thing communicates differently. Because of that, she never expects everyone to express themselves in the same way.

Her knowledge of mythology occasionally overlaps with your experiences. Eurydice likes telling you about stories that remind her a little of what you tell her.

She invites you to a wildlife rehabilitation center after getting permission from the staff. Nothing makes her more happy than making others happy!

Apollo learns your patterns long before he says anything about them. He doesn’t make a big deal of it, he simply quietly adjusts things to your needs. He closes doors around the house softer, he does his best to warn you before any loud noises, and he lowers the brightness in rooms he knows you like to be in.

He’s quick to shut down anyone trying to infantilize you for your autism. Being autistic himself, he knows how insulting it feels, so Apollo is sure to put a stop to that behavior.

He adapts easily when you’re nonverbal. Apollo’s started encouraging you to keep communication cards on hand, that way you can communicate your needs without having to speak.

He isn’t all that big on eye contact himself, so knowing it’s not an important thing for you makes him feel a bit better. He often worries that people think he isn’t listening to them solely because he isn’t really looking directly at them.

Apollo doesn’t force anything on you when you’re having a meltdown. He gifted you a weighted blanket to use when you need pressure to help calm you down. He keeps a comfortable distance between you unless you ask him to sit closer. Though he’s not the best with physical comfort, he doesn’t mind rubbing your back or giving you a small hug if that’s what you need.

When he’s grocery shopping, he makes sure to get foods that he knows you can tolerate. He enjoys cooking, so he doesn’t mind looking up recipes that use your safe foods in them.

Apollo struggles with asking for reassurance from you directly, so he tries to get around it by asking you these oddly specific questions. You’ll be able to tell when he’s worried you’re upset with him because he’ll ask you things like “Did I upset you earlier?” or “You would tel me if I was becoming too much, yes?”

His favorite form of intimacy is parallel play. He enjoys when you draw while he grades papers, or when you game while he reads.

Apollo has a large collection of pictures of you in his phone. You think it’s silly, but every last one matters to him. There’s blurry photos, photos where you’re mid sentence, and even photos where the lighting is just terrible. Still, he thinks you look great in every one.

You help him understand that usefulness isn’t the same thing as worth. It’s not uncommon for Apollo to overwork himself in the relationship. He worries that if you don’t find use in him anymore, you’ll leave.

He hovers quite a bit. You’ll be on the couch scrolling through messages, having no idea he’s been right behind you with a soft smile across his face until you turn around.

When you compliment something about his appearance, he’ll do his best to make it stand out in the future. You once told him you thought his hair was nice, and the next morning you found him applying extra amounts of hair care products to it.
