Having finally gotten past Bazzozan and that mess with Obbann, I am being reminded of the Lucien and TT problem.
I’ve said before, how Lucien is being treated similarly to Avantika and the Squalleater (they can play sides and be buddy buddy to get the information they need before turning) but god does it feel like it’s the events from the dungeons again.
In both situations, they have scried on someone and seen some that they they a) weren’t meant to see and b) don’t full understand. They chase after this, thinking they’re going to find something important. Only to find a ‘purple skinned’ (I know Oban isn’t technically purple skinned but he was disguised as a drow when the Nein were first chasing him) potentially ally, inviting them along.
In both situations, the person they’re chasing: knows way more than they do, is hiding something, is likely far stronger and is wanting to unleash something dangerous. With Oban they ran head first into it, wanting to go for the usual ‘Run in and figure it out from there’. It led to them loosing one of their own and Oban succeeding in unleashing the Hand. With Lucien, it feels like the same thing is happening. They ran in asking questions, and have now been caught for trying to stop it. The only difference here, is that while Oban was all for trying to strike them down, Lucien is for whatever stringing them along.
TLDR: Lucien is giving me wild Oban vibes, and the Nein need to be very careful to not repeat what happened in Bazzozan, and not let him unleash Aeor.
