being deployed for a year had been hard. sure he tried to write and call when he could but he had moved around so much that he hadnt gotten to talk to her as much as he would like. but now he was home and he was destine to surprise her. he had gotten sent back a week earlier than what she was expecting. as mickey made his walk through the halls he paused when he saw her. he cleared his throat and waited for her to notice.

The birth of their children settled Mickey somewhat, in that he stopped taking such risks with his life, money, and reputation, to protect them, but when Petunia responded to the differences in her sister with jealousy, fear, and anger, he came to regret that he had chosen to shelter them so much.  He fully supported both of his children, doing his best to guide them toward kindness and tolerance, until he and his wife were ultimately killed for Lily’s gift, collateral damage in a war he couldn’t be a part of.

Mickey immediately softened, going to one knee in front of Severus, where he was sitting on his couch. “You listen to me for a second now, Severus. Listen.” He put one hand on Severuss’ knee, making sure he really did have his attention.  “I’m not going anywhere. You’re as much mine as you want to be. We’ll take you in all summer, if you can make that work.  If you want, we’ll write to you at that school of yours.  You deserved better than what you got, but you don’t have to be even a little bit embarrassed about coming to me and Kellen for whatever you need.  Do you understand?”
