the collection of barrels outside the hufflepuff common room had become like dear friends to andromeda in the past twenty minutes. she was stood next to them the whole time, but with nothing else to entertain herself, she began to memorize the different intricacies of each barrel: the one closest her was the most beat up, as if many a student had crashed into it in the past. then, there was the third one in on the second row, which was every so slightly a different color then the rest.Â
she was so distracted by figuring out what made each barrel different, that she almost missed the reason she was waiting near them in the first place; ted was approaching. several things had been weighing on her mind lately, and she just needed a moment with a friend outside of her usual social circle. when he drew near enough, she smiled and waved a quick hello, (and because it suddenly occurred to her how insane she must seem to anyone for waiting twenty minutes outside another common room) offering an explanation for her presence before he had a chance to ask for one himself,Â
âsorry! i wanted to talk to you, but i couldnât figure out where youâd be, and i couldnât wait inside, because- well, you know, slytherin.âÂ
