It’s been a long time since she’s walked through the woods like this, able to take in not only the sounds and smells, but the sight of everything too. During her three daily walks with Mac, Rachel tended to stick to campus, which was pretty accessible and a place she had grown to know by heart. Still, it’s nice to be able to take in the way that the sun shines through the green leaves above her head, to see the signs of life throughout the forest that’s just beginning to prepare for spring. Everything’s starting to wake up, to begin again, and she takes a moment to enjoy the fact that in many ways, it feels like that is happening for her too. Even with the anxiety that surrounds the news of two new fires, she’s still grateful for this second chance, for being able to share a tent with Nina again and complain about Mx trying to worm his way in said tent halfway through the night.
As she steps past a row of bushes that she thinks might eventually bear blackberries, Rachel sees blonde hair, and awkwardly comes to a stop. “Sorry,” she begins, aware that she may have caught them off guard or startled them, although still not entirely sure who it is she has stumbled upon. @lilliian
