Ed’s been a baker forever, and still runs the business started by his parents. Tradition is important, but he’s also open to change. Kevin’s first prosthesis after his accident was a mechanical knee. But it couldn’t keep up with him. Watch this video to hear how this police sergeant/amateur musician really began to rock and roll with his Ottobock Genium microprocessor leg. Kevin uses his down time to relax with family, friends, and music. He’s also passionate about taking time to talk with others about life after amputation. “There’s two choices in life,” says Kevin. “You can roll up into a ball in a corner, where you can remain the rest of your life … or you can collect the pieces of what you have and move forward.” Kevin keeps his eyes squarely on the future.

Ellen's a medical social worker, and she's often the first stop for people who have experienced trauma in their lives. Watch this video to hear Kent talk about why the C-Leg computerized prosthetic knee excites him and allows him to dream again of ballroom dancing: "My passion as a kid was to be a dancer. I went to ballet school from the time I was five years old until I was about eleven years old. When I was fourteen I lost my leg. It was really devastating. I thought, what am I going to do? “I remember reading about the C-Leg coming, and I was so happy when I finally got it. What I really want in the C-Leg is to be able to get back to ballroom dancing. It requires a lot of different step work; it requires being able to get good fluid movement. As I'm getting better with the C-Leg, I get more into it, which is really exciting. The more I manipulate it and the more confident I get with the leg, the more I'm able to do. … “I will always be a dancer at heart. It's part of who I am. That's why it's exciting to have a prosthetist who will help me work toward my dreams.”
