Vetr Wins Big at the Benzinga FinTech Awards
Vetr.com won the award for âBest use of the crowdâ at the Benzinga FinTech Awards on April 8, 2015. Vetr is a platform that allows individuals to âvetâ investments by aggregating price targets to create simple crowdsourced star ratings. The âBest use of the crowdâ category showcased companies that encourage the public to share investment ideas with each other, which Vetr is doing with their crowdsourced star ratings. Other companies nominated in this category included Openfolio, Darwinex, InvestFeed, NVestly, Tipâd Off, Stockfuse, Thinknum, and Estimize. Vetr was among 57 total finalists that attended the event and were nominees for 2 out of the 14 categories available (âBest use of the crowdâ and âCreating Proprietary Data â Best in Classâ).
âBest use of the crowd fits Vetr perfectly, the award really speaks for itself,â said Vetr co-founder, Jan van Eck. Vetrâs CEO, Patrick Williams, also commented saying, âWinning this award in front of heavy hitters like Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, and Microsoft really puts Vetr in a great position to grow. We were up against some very stiff competitionâ. Over 350 people attended the Benzinga FinTech Awards at Tribeca 360.
The fintech industry covers âinnovation within financial servicesâ. Fintech companies with all kinds of different purposes were showcased at the award show from robo advisors to crowd sourced data. Other winners on the night included Betterment, Estimize, and Motif Investing.
Benzinga president, Kyle Bazzy, said that the awards show was filled with the movers and shakers of the financial world. He also said that every company in attendance is allowing the public to gain wealth in an accessible, affordable, and transparent way. This was the first year that the Benzinga Fintech Awards has ever taken place, and they plan on having more award shows in the future.
