Just finished a one of a kind Japanese Knot Bag that I pieced together using various fabric scraps in reds and pinks.

The front of the dress was cut from a white eyelet top I had but never wear. The fabric was too pretty to just sit in my closet.

I used blue buttons because I had forgotten to change the machines thread when I stitched the front and back of the dress together, which was blue. You only notice it if you’re really looking, but I figured I’d better make it look intentional anyway. Hehe

I practiced more with my serging technique and although I messed up a couple times, it still looks pretty good. I’ve never successfully made buttonholes before, so that was a new skill added to my repertoire. They’re a bit slanted, but they work. The button straps aren’t perfectly curved, but with practice I’m sure I’ll get that right. Lastly the hem is a tiny bit bunched in a couple of places. I think I was supposed to hand stitch the hem, but couldn’t be bothered as I was too eager to see it completed. 🤷🏽‍♀️

She’s happy with it, I’m happy with it. ❤️ Now to buy more fabric because I need to make more of these dresses! 😊😊

My only problem, why did I use that colour ribbon?! It’s really bothering me. 😂 I don’t know why I thought the fabric had pink in it cause it very obviously does not. 😂 Oh well, I can change that easy. 🤙🏾

I used a pattern called Stevie that I purchased from a shop called Peanut Patterns on Etsy. Very easy to follow with clear instructions and photos, even though I had sizing issues. I just had to make sure I went by my GD’s measurements and cut to the closest fitting size. Judging by her measurements she was a 12 mth, 18 mth, 24 mth and 3 year old size. Lol That obviously wasn’t going to work out. All in all, I’m very happy with these. 😊😊

A fun end of unit task for my counselling class was to create a likeness of a theorist, classmate or lecturer and share it in class. I finished my last assessment on time and took a couple hours to make the head of one of my lecturers. 😊
