Yeah, knowing the names and properties of gems and such is cool if that's what you like and are perhaps planning on dominating in a geology-based gameshow, but if you are like me and the attempt of knowing and looking up such a vast thing got you like

I have so many pretty rocks. What's this one? Could be granite, but I call it "Rock I Found While on a Trip with Friends".

What's this? Rose Quartz? No, that's "Pretty Pink Glass that Makes Me Feel Feminine." I use it to make my face toner.

This blue stone cut and wrapped in wire? It's obviously meant for a new-age necklace, so do I spend the time and effort necessary to figure out if it's really the crystal it's suppose to be? Nope, I labeled it "Gift from a Liar" and move on just like I moved on from the ex who gave it to me.

You don't need to stress out over remembering what gem or color or whatever represents what. Try out different stuff (candles, rocks, trinkets) you have with a spell and see which one works best, and then use that. I promise you that the Witchcraft police will not come and arrest you if you don't adhere to rules like "black stuff for banishing" - If black makes you feel powerful, use it for anti-anxiety spells! Build your own magick! This stuff is suppose to make you feel better not worse.
