Neon Dream
Steps on the sidewalk
neon signs in the dark night
moving shadows outlined purple
Propaganda cast on faces
he is not immune
he knows it
he is not defenseless
he’s trying
to not let fear cloud his judgment
to not let sadness diminish his hope
a face lifts to the crying sky
acidic rain blinds her world
artificial light clouds her stars
a deep breath of monoxide
to calm one’s sense
to slow one’s shaking
to filter one’s desperation
to reach for one’s momentum
they will wake up yet again
they will fight for dear light
they will hold onto the others
they will shine upon the world
a candle dodging the rain
a bubble under the water
a dream alive in my head
a neon sign, purple flickers
